History Eowyn and Faramir meet in the kingdom of Gondor, in the Houses of Healing. They were both brought there in sorrow, and both nearly died; however, due to the healing touch of Aragorn, they survived. At their first meeting, Eowyn asks him permission to leave the Houses of Healing, and Faramir falls in love with her right then and there. However, Eowyn is unwilling to love - anyone, that is, not just Faramir. Everyone feels pity for Eowyn, and she assumes that he only loves her out of pity. However, Faramir looked PAST Eowyn's sorrow and the pity that he felt for her, and what he saw, he fell in love with. Through a course of conversations and meetings, Eowyn begins to fall in love with Faramir, even though she rather not. When she finally accepts his love and her own love as well, that is when she is healed, and the shadow of the Nazgul leaves her. This is also when Eowyn becomes truly happy - not that she needed Faramir to be happy, it's just that...oh, whatever. He understands her, and he seems to be the only person who does.
