Was Miranda a good choice? According to some, no. Some claim that she is too old [she's about nine years older than Eowyn, since Eowyn was in her mid-twenties during The War of the Ring], not "attractive" enough to portray Eowyn's beauty ["fairest lady in a house of queens", in the words of Aragorn], and all in all, just a horrible choice.

well, I, for one, think that Miranda was the perfect choice. Early rumours had Uma Therman cast in the role of Eowyn, and I'd have to say, I think that Miranda would be a much better choice than Uma. Not to say that she's a bad actress; but it's hard to imagine anyone else than Miranda Otto doing Eowyn as well as she did. [yes, Sophie, even Meryl Streep. ;)] And, as far as her looks go... I, for one, think she's beautiful, in a very real sense. All in all, the perfect Eowyn.
