Temptation

Rohan, also known as the Riddermark and The Mark and it's people as the Rohirrim, is one of the most powerful kingdoms of Men in Middle-Earth. It is famed for its horses, which were unmatched anywhere in Middle-Earth, and in Gondor, they were respected for the bravely, loyalty, and nobility of its people. At first, it was only a northern providence of Gondor, called Calenardhon. However, during the long and many wars of the Third Age, it gradually became depopulated, and eventually only a few people of the country lived there. In 2150, it was attacked by a host of Balchoth and Orcs, and the Army of Gondor sent forces to control the invasion and help defend Calenardhon. However, Riders of Rohan, the Northmen of Eotheod, arrived and scattered the invaders. In reward, Gondor made Calenardhon into its own country, called Riddermark, "Land of the Knights" in their language. In the language of Gondor, it was Rohan.

Rohan is very important to Eowyn. It means a lot to her, to the point where she is willing to die for it. She has a lot of pride, and it would hurt her deeply to see Rohan fall. The people of Rohan respect her, to a great extent; for example, when Eowyn was told to stand behind and rule the people of Rohan in Theoden's steed, she rode out anyway, against orders. However, she was protected by several soliders who allowed her to ride out with them, when they were well aware of her identity. Also, she is described as the fairest thing in Rohan. This has nothing to do with Rohan, but whatever.
